DEC offer standard solutions to the oilfield industry for Seismic and Storm Clamps. With drilling exploration increasing in more and more seismically active areas of the world and in areas of severe storms, the Dyna-Clamp is a quick and simple operation of clamping the drilling derrick and support frame to the main skid deck. This is vital for the survival of the drilling package, during a seismic or storm event.

The Dyna-Clamp was originally developed for the Caspian Sea and had to withstand significant loadings which can be as high as 400ft transverse, 400ft longitudinal  and 700ft uplift all concurrent in any one corner of the rig.

DEC developed a unique and very compact solution to withstand these concurrent loadings with a  pure mechanical lock, therefore during a seismic event all the loadings are fully mechanically transferred into the parent structure and no load intensification can be experienced as would be in a hydraulically locked system. 

The clamps currently come in two sizes the 500 and 1000 tonne units based on the maximum grip force applied to the skid beam and can accommodate all  the most common size of skid beams.

The Dyna-Clamp gives a pure mechanical clamp force to the skid beam. The clamps can be applied and fully loaded within 30 seconds and  fully released within 60 seconds.

The seismic load paths in all three directions are accommodated simultaneously by the clamp ensuring the safety of the rig.
